Job Description
The MLA office Constituency Outreach Navigator primary role is to engage with Halifax Citadel Sable Island community to understand their concerns and needs. They will work with the Constituency Coordinator to help constituents access resources and services. This role will also work to create outreach materials through social media and newsletters to help constituents learn about the work we do in our office. The position also includes assisting with intake of casework, answering phone calls, and completing administrative duties.

Part Time Position: 15-20 Hours a week in person, $25/hr

Qualifications:

Strong organizational skills, able to manage multiple cases and tasks simultaneously with attention to detail.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including one-on-one interactions with constituents.

Familiarity with the roles and responsibilities of different levels of government, particularly Provincial jurisdiction.

Proficiency in the use of social media and tools for creation and management of social media content
Experience:

High school degree or equivalent.

2 years of post-secondary education in social sciences, social work, or equivalent work or community experience.

Responsibilities
Community Engagement:
-
Communicate the work of the MLA to the community.
-
Communicate how the MLA can address the community’s needs and advocate on their behalf.

Assist in the management and creation of content for the MLA’s social media (Instagram, Facebook, etc)

Attend community events
Constituent Case Intake & Support:
-
Manage intake of constituency casework, including obtaining necessary permissions from constituents to investigate on their behalf.

Conduct effective interviews to gather facts and details on the issues faced by constituents

Assist constituents with completing forms or applications for various government and community programs.
Administrative Tasks:

Answer phone calls and assist with general inquiries.

Digitize paper files, organize correspondence, and create certificates of appreciation.

Research social programs and services available to better assist constituents.
